This outstanding package allows users of the Inventory module to answer any question about any item from one central screen. Questions like:

How many are in warehouse 3?
What did this customer pay for it last time?
How many are on order?
When can I expect them?
How is it shipped?
Can I get a copy of the assembly instructions?
Where’s it located?
What are my yearly averages?

And so much more. In addition to accessing all of the data stored by Inventory, you also have access to the sales history stored by the A/R module and the on order items stored by the PO module. Your staff can quickly find out anything they want to know about an item while your customers can use it as an on-line catalog to search for just what they want--security features allow you to define exactly which data can and cannot be accessed. The program can be run directly from within the Roundtable Software Advantage Accounting System via the GoTo function or from the DOS prompt.

Features & Benefits

Accessible From Within The Roundtable Software Advantage Accounting System: By using the GoTo window, the Inventory Expert program can easily be accessed. When done, you are returned to the accounting software. When using the TSR mode, Inventory Expert immediately goes to the item currently being accessed within the Roundtable Software Advantage Accounting System. This works similar to the look-ups within the product.

Access Any Information About An Item From One Screen: All of the following information can be accessed directly from the main look-up window of Inventory Expert:

Look-Up Items By Number, Group or Description From One Screen: The lookup window allows you to retrieve items by Item Number, Group Number and Description. Move through the list by using the arrow keys, Page Up and Page Down keys, and the Home and End keys. In addition to the key fields, you choose which of the following to display: Selling Price, Current Cost, Location, Quantity on Hand or Quantity Available.

Display Pictures Of Your Items:You can attach a graphic file, in GIF format, to any Inventory item and Inventory Expert can display it for you. Use this to display any image you’d like associated with an item: scanned pictures, schematics or CAD drawings are examples of some of the images our customers display with this feature. Roundtable Software offers photographic, scanning and image conversion services to assist you in developing your graphic file database.

TSR Mode: Have you ever had a customer request information on an item while you were entering an invoice? With the TSR mode of Inventory Expert, you can view item detail without interrupting your work. It even knows what item you are working with and takes you to it automatically. When done, you can have the selected item returned to the program you were in or you can simply go back without the item number.

Built-In Security: You have two levels of security available in Inventory Expert. You can limit access to specific functions and also suppress the display of costs and sales totals. Authorized users can gain unlimited access simply by entering the manager password. With security, Inventory Expert can provide an “on-line catalog” for your customers while preserving complete access for in-house personnel.

Functionality

The Inventory Expert package allows you to view all detail for an item from one central program. Through the use of Alt-key combinations and subsidiary screens, you can access the following detail:

In addition, Inventory Expert allows you to view Notes for an item. Within Inventory Expert, you can retrieve items by Item Number, Group Number, or Description without leaving the main screen. The lookup window of Inventory Expert always displays the Item Number, Group Number, and Description fields and, through the setup program, allows you to select which field from the following to display as the fourth field:

Selling Price Current Cost Location Quantity on Hand Quantity Available You can suppress the display of costs and sales totals as well as limit access to each function individually. Security is provided through a Manager password and the ability to restrict access to specific functions. Authorized users can enter the Manager’s password to gain access to all functions. Once the correct password is entered, that user has unrestricted access to all functions until they quit out of the program.

Inventory Expert provides a Statistics screen which calculates statistical data for each item, such as YTD Average Selling Price, Projected Total Sales, Projected Remaining Sales, Weighted Projected Sales, YTD Profit, Projected Total Profit and many more. The Projected figures are based on the figures in the Item Master; the Weighted Projected figures are based on the Historical Quantity Sold. Both sets of figures are intended to give you a picture of an item’s future sales based on past performance.

How do I change the fourth column on the lookup screen? The right-most column on the main lookup screen can display Selling Price, Current Cost, Location, Quantity on Hand or the Quantity Available for any item. This is defined by the user through the IESETUP program. Refer to the manual for details on using the IESETUP program.

Can I add more fields to the main lookup window?Not to the package as it ships. However, Roundtable Software can customize Inventory Expert to display whatever fields you’d like. Contact us for further information.

When a new version of the Roundtable Software Advantage Accounting System is released, how is Inventory Expert impacted? For normal, minor releases, there is generally no need to change the Inventory Expert software. For major releases, Roundtable charges a nominal upgrade fee.
